Meghalaya Revives Talks on Assam Border Disputes
The Meghalaya government has officially reconstituted three regional committees to accelerate the resolution of six long-standing disputed sectors along its border with Assam. Following a recent cabinet reshuffle, these panels—led by senior ministers—are mandated to complete joint field surveys, verify village records, and engage with local stakeholders.
This move marks the second phase of a diplomatic process aimed at reaching a mutually acceptable settlement for areas including Langpih, Borduar, and Psiar-Khanduli. The committees have been directed to submit their findings within 45 days, reviving hopes for a permanent peace in these historically sensitive regions.
