J&K Apple Industry and Horticulture See New Growth

Jammu & Kashmir continues to strengthen its apple industry and horticulture sector in 2026 through initiatives aimed at improving productivity, quality, and market access. Efforts are focused on promoting high-density apple plantations, expanding cold storage and post-harvest infrastructure, and encouraging scientific farming practices.

Government support for modern irrigation, quality planting material, and better supply chain management is helping enhance farmers' incomes and competitiveness. The sector remains a vital contributor to the region's economy, generating employment and supporting exports while encouraging sustainable horticultural development.
