Spiti’s stunning Chandratal Lake is facing a severe crisis due to surging tourist footfalls. This rapid influx is overwhelming the region's fragile road and communication networks, making access increasingly hazardous.
Consequently, local communities, environmentalists, and the government are urgently demanding sustainable measures. They warn that without balancing essential tourism revenue with active ecosystem protection, this high-altitude environment could suffer irreversible damage, ultimately destroying the region's long-term tourism viability.
