CBI Raids in Tripura Linked to Nagaland Varsity Graft Case
The CBI has launched raids in Agartala, along with locations in Nagaland and Assam, in connection with a corruption investigation involving a Nagaland University professor, Chitta Ranjan Deb — originally from Tripura. Authorities recovered documents indicating dubious tender practices and bribery in awarding procurement contracts for scientific equipment. Deb, a senior professor and IQAC director, is alleged to have favoured specific companies in exchange for kickbacks. The case was officially registered on July 12, reinforcing central scrutiny over academic procurement integrity. Local Tripura observers note the high-profile nature of the accused’s origin.
