Himachal Boosts Apple and Horticulture Sector in 2026
Himachal Pradesh continues to strengthen its apple and horticulture sector through initiatives that improve productivity, farmer incomes, and market access. The state is promoting high-density apple plantations, expanding controlled-atmosphere (CA) storage facilities, and supporting modern grading and packaging infrastructure.
Farmers are also benefiting from crop insurance, irrigation improvements, and technical guidance on climate-resilient cultivation practices. Alongside apples, the government is encouraging the production of fruits such as kiwis, cherries, and stone fruits, reinforcing horticulture as a key driver of rural livelihoods and the state's agricultural economy.
