Puducherry Declares Muharram Holiday and Work Swap
he Government of Puducherry has officially announced a public holiday on June 26, 2026, in observance of Muharram. This notification, issued under the powers conferred by the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, mandates the closure of all government offices and educational institutions across the Union Territory for the occasion.
To ensure the continuity of administrative and academic schedules, authorities have designated Saturday, July 4, 2026, as a compensatory working day to make up for the holiday. Residents and students are advised to note this calendar adjustment for their planning.
