PGIDS, AIIMS & IISc Develop AI App to Spot Oral Cancer
PGIDS Rohtak, in collaboration with AIIMS Delhi and IISc Bengaluru, is developing an innovative AI-powered mobile app for the early detection of oral cancer. Supported by the ICMR-funded MIDAS project, the system utilizes a comprehensive database of clinical and histopathological images to identify suspicious oral lesions effectively.
This technology aims to empower frontline healthcare workers, particularly in regions with high tobacco usage like Haryana. By facilitating timely referrals and reducing diagnostic delays, the application could significantly improve survival rates. Early detection allows for successful treatment in ninety percent of patients.
