Free Bus Travel For Women & Annapurna Yojana Launched
The West Bengal government announced a massive welfare push today by approving free bus travel for women in all state-run fleets starting June 1st.
Alongside this transport facility, the cabinet cleared the "Annapurna Yojana" (Annapurna Bhandar Scheme). Under this direct benefit transfer scheme, eligible women from economically weaker households will receive ₹3,000 monthly.
Beneficiaries already enrolled under the existing Lakshmir Bhandar scheme will be automatically integrated, while a new portal will launch shortly for left-out, eligible applicants.
