Liquor Crackdown: 717 TASMAC Shops to Close
Under the direct orders of CM Vijay, the Tamil Nadu government has initiated a massive crackdown on alcohol accessibility. Authorities have identified and ordered the closure of 717 TASMAC outlets located within 500 meters of schools, places of worship, and bus stations. Furthermore, a strict 21-year age limit for liquor purchase is now being enforced, with mandatory ID checks (Aadhaar) at all counters. Discussions are also underway to reduce operating hours, potentially shifting the closing time from 10 PM to 8 PM.
