In a major boost to healthcare and education in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, the Government of India has approved the establishment of the first-ever medical college in Silvassa. The new institution, named Shri Vinoba Bhave Institute of Medical Sciences, will be part of the NAMO Medical Education & Research Institute.This initiative aims to address the long-standing gap in medical education within the UT and is expected to improve the availability of trained healthcare professionals in the region. The college will offer MBBS seats along with modern facilities and research infrastructure. The move is also seen as a step towards reducing the dependency on other states for medical education and services.Once operational, the institute is expected to attract students from across the country and improve access to quality healthcare for local residents.
