Kamjong Conflict: Border Tension and Arson Reported
A disturbing resurgence of violence has gripped the Kamjong district along the India-Myanmar border, where tensions have spiked following the reported burning of 20 to 35 houses in Phaimol village. This tragic incident occurred shortly after the departure of an Assam Rifles security post from the area, leaving a dangerous power vacuum.
Kuki and Naga organizations have traded heated accusations, blaming opposing armed groups for the targeted arson and attacks. As the local community faces displacement and fear, there is an urgent call for restored security measures and meaningful dialogue to prevent further escalation in this volatile border region.
