he Union Territory of Lakshadweep has officially entered a transformative chapter with the notification of the Lakshadweep Excise Regulation, 2026. By establishing a comprehensive legal framework for the manufacture, possession, sale, and consumption of liquor, the administration has formally ended a 47-year era of prohibition.
This strategic policy shift is primarily designed to bolster the region’s luxury tourism sector, aligning local amenities with the expectations of high-end international travelers.
