Kerala is actively implementing coastal protection projects to address sea erosion, climate change impacts, and safeguard vulnerable coastal communities. The government, in collaboration with central agencies, is constructing seawalls, groynes, and beach nourishment systems across high-risk coastal zones. Special focus is given to districts like Alappuzha, Kollam, and Ernakulam.

Integrated coastal zone management plans are being strengthened to ensure sustainable development while protecting marine ecosystems. Fishermen communities are also receiving rehabilitation and livelihood support. These initiatives aim to reduce disaster risk and enhance resilience along Kerala’s long and ecologically sensitive coastline.
