Assam's Solar Leap: 17% Families Pay Zero Power Bills

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a major milestone in the state's green transition, revealing that 17.6% of households with rooftop solar installations now enjoy zero electricity bills. This achievement is driven by the central government's flagship PM Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana, which promotes financial self-reliance and sustainable energy.

By helping thousands of families completely eliminate their monthly electricity expenses, the scheme has delivered significant economic relief and enhanced regional energy security. This rapid adoption places Assam comfortably among the top five states leading India's clean energy movement.
