CM Vijay Announces DA Hike for 16 Lakh Employees
In a major post-election move, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Tamil Nadu government employees, teachers, and pensioners. Effective retrospectively from January 1, 2026, the DA rises from 58% to 60%. This decision is set to benefit approximately 16 lakh individuals but will cost the state exchequer an additional ₹1,230 crore annually. The CM emphasized that this hike recognizes the vital role government staff play in executing welfare schemes across the state.
