Heritage Revived: Grand Canal Restoration Phase II
The iconic Grand Canal, which historically divides the French and Indian Quarters, is undergoing a high-tech facelift. Today marks the start of Phase II, focusing on an automated waste-filtration system and the installation of pedestrian-friendly boardwalks. The project aims to transform the canal from a drainage conduit into a vibrant cultural corridor. Enhanced lighting and vintage-style bridges are being added to boost evening tourism, ensuring the "French Riviera of the East" retains its colonial charm while embracing modern urban sanitation.
