The Karnataka government has issued a directive prohibiting private individuals and organizations from rescuing and rehabilitating king cobras.
This move aims to prevent the exploitation of these snakes by wildlife photographers, filmmakers, and untrained handlers. Only trained forest department personnel are now authorized to handle king cobras, ensuring the reptiles’ safety and proper care.
The initiative reflects the state’s commitment to wildlife protection and ethical conservation practices.
