The Indian Senior Women’s Football Team kicks off their highly anticipated SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 campaign tonight at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao.

Facing off against Maldives in their Group B opener at 19:30 IST, the Blue Tigresses are playing a competitive match in Goa for the very first time. Ranked 69th globally, India enters as a massive favorite against the 167th-ranked Maldives side.

Coach Crispin Chettri emphasized that the tournament serves as a foundational step toward ultimate qualification for the next AFC Asian Cup.
