The education sector in Meghalaya is witnessing significant friction today as representatives from the Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) staged a walkout from a high-level meeting.
The protest targeted the Education Department’s "unethical" handling of the Centralised Provident Fund Scheme 2026.
Teachers have accused the government of inviting non-stakeholders and attempting to bypass legal cases currently pending in the High Court. With tensions rising, the educator community is demanding the implementation of the 2023 Scheme alongside the National Pension System.
