NTPC Triggers Green Energy Shift in Port Blair
In a significant push for carbon neutrality, NTPC Limited has officially invited bids for a "Solar Repowering" project across the islands as of mid-May 2026. This initiative focuses on modernizing existing solar infrastructure and expanding grid-connected rooftop solar capacity by 3,450 kW. By integrating these systems with advanced battery energy storage, the administration aims to drastically reduce the archipelago’s historical dependence on expensive, polluting diesel generators, paving the way for a more resilient and eco-friendly island power grid.
