Cabinet Approves 7th Pay Commission For State Staff
In a major relief for state employees, the West Bengal cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, gave in-principle approval to form the 7th Pay Commission today.
The decision will benefit thousands working in government boards, corporations, schools, and state-aided bodies. Alongside this financial upgrade, the state announced an overhaul of the OBC list following a recent Calcutta High Court ruling.
Furthermore, certain direct benefit transfers under the Minority and Cultural Affairs departments will cease from June 1st, though essential student scholarships remain completely protected.
