Women's Reservation Bill: The Political Game and the Hidden Reality
The implementation of the 2023 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' has sparked a fresh political row. Instead of immediate execution, the government linked the women's reservation bill to population census and delimitation (redrawing constituency maps).
Critics argue this delay tactic, resembling political "gerrymandering," could disproportionately reduce South India's political representation because of its successful population control.
The opposition demands immediate implementation within the current 543 Lok Sabha seats. Meanwhile, NCRB data reveals crimes against women have doubled over the past 12 years, highlighting a stark gap between political slogans and ground reality.
