Chicago News Crew Attacked: Camera Smashed on Duty
A CBS Chicago news crew was violently attacked in June 2026 while preparing for a live broadcast near the Adler Planetarium. Three men approached the news van, shouted racial slurs at the Black photographer, threatened him with a dog, and completely smashed his expensive camera. They also shattered the news van's windshield before fleeing.
BMA stands in solidarity with international media crews, highlighting that systemic hatred and physical violence against camerapersons and field reporters is an unacceptable global crisis that demands immediate and severe legal consequences.
